What Can You Do For Bacterial Vaginosis?
It is normal to have bacteria lining the internal tracks of our body like vagina in women. These bacteria protect us from the attacks of other bad bacteria or micro-organisms. But there is a natural balance in the count of these bacteria. If this balance disrupts, bacteria overgrow and now start causing symptoms and sometimes, overgrowth of other bad bacteria as well. This condition is called ‘Bacterial Vaginosis’ and is characterized by the white, foul-smelling discharge from vagina. Discharge is of fishy odor, and sometimes, accompanied by itching and pain sensation on micturition or urination. Normal pH of vagina is acidic and in bacterial vaginosis, pH becomes alkaline. Most of victims of this condition are teens to mid-40 years. Now important is, what you can do for your bacterial vaginosis. It is not a lethal disease but a disturbing one. Luckily, you can get rid of this condition with the help of home remedies.
Yogurt – A Source of Lactobacillus
Yogurt is the rich source of lactobacillus acidophilus. This bacterium is the natural inhabitant of vagina and assists in fighting infections and bacteriosis by keeping a balance in bacteria level. You can eat at least 8 once of yogurt in a day which will ultimately build up good bacteria in your body. Alternatively, if you don’t like yogurt, you can soak a tampon in it for ten minutes and insert that tampon into the vagina for few hours.
Garlic – A Natural Antibiotic
Garlic is unique in having natural antibiotic and anti-fungal properties. You can eat raw garlic solely or take garlic capsule daily for few weeks to eradicate your infection. If you feel harassment in eating garlic, insert a garlic clove wrapped in gauze into your vagina for half an hour. Rinse the area when you remove the gauze. This will do the same work.
Coconut Oil – Anti-Fungal, Anti-Bacterial & Anti-Viral
Coconut oil is the source of some marvel compound which act as anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral agents as well. You can cook your foods in coconut oil and impart natural protection to your immunity. Alternately, soak a tampon in coconut oil and insert into your vagina for two hours. Rinse the area when you remove the tampon.
Apple Cider Vinegar – Acidic Nature
As we talked, bacterial vaginosis makes vagina alkaline. Apple cider vinegar is acidic in nature, so it restores the acidic pH of vagina and help fight against bacterial vaginosis and other infections. Add one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to two cups of water and use this mixture to douche your vagina. You can put half cup of apple cider vinegar into bating tub and take bath for ½ hour in it.
Hydrogen peroxide is an oxidizing agent and it is used as disinfectant. Mix equal parts of water and 3 % hydrogen peroxide solution in cup. Now soak a tampon in it and inset into your vagina for 30 minutes. You can douche your vagina with this solution.
Douche is a device used to irrigate body cavities and in our case, it refers to vaginal irrigation.
You should add citrus fruits, or green vegetables in your diet and these can help you fight infections like bacterial vaginosis.
